Benjamin Mixon died on 15 Jan 1858. He was buried in the Mixon Cemetery which is located on Hampton Lee Road (a farm to market road) seven and one-half miles west of Magnolia, Mississippi (3). The Jerusalem church was in the southern part of Amite County near the present town of Gillsburg. O. Z. Mixon was a delegate to the Mississippi River Baptist Association in 1858, 1859, and 1865 (3). In the census of 1860 Obed Z. Mixon was listed in Amite County. Obediah Mixon enlisted in the Confederate Army on 12 July 1862. He served as a corporal in Company C, Second Mississippi Infantry during the Civil Wat (3, 5). He fought at the Battle of Chickamauga Creek near Lookout Mountain and was wounded there (5). Obediah Mixon and his wife and family moved to Friendship in Bienville Parish, Louisiana, in 1867 (5). A post office was established at Friendship on 9 Jun 1875. Obediah Mixon served as its third postmaster, from 23 Dec 1880 to 28 Jan 1886. He died on 6 Oct 1904 in Bienville Parish, Louisiana, and was buried at Friendship Cemetery (5). The children of Obediah and Vienna Mixon were: Charles Lee, Martha J., Tabitha, George, Edwin Alonzo, Marcellina, Frances Izora, Lou Ella, Emily, Rozella and Benjamin Haydad (1, 5, 6).
