     Elijah Porter Scott followed his father's footsteps into business in Waterford, but in the time of the oil excitement went to Pennsylvania and later to Chicago. After his mother's death he came back to Waterford and lived with the family at the old homestead. His widow now resides in Brooklyn, NY.

     Ira Scott, William and Laura Scott's oldest child, studied law at Harvard University and in his uncle's law office, and, shortly after entering upon its practice moved to Marshall, MI, and later to Chicago, IL, where he was for years a Master in Chancery of one of the Courts. He and his wife now (1909) reside at Lansing, MI.

     William Scott was a general merchant in the village of Waterford. In his later years he made successful investments in Michigan pine. When he died he was a man of large meals although he continued to live the same simple and comfortable live as formerly. Mrs. Scott died in 1881 and her husband died five years later when over 92 years of age.
