I also give my nephew John Pell (my whole and sole heire) all my goods moveable or immoveable whatsoever -- money, plate, chattels and cattle of all kinde -- except such parcells and legacyes which I give and bequeath to such persons as followeth . . .3 " John Pell arrives in Boston, Massachusetts, in the fall of 1670 a letter of introduction to Gov. John Winthrop from Lord Brereton. The letter said that Pell now owns the property formerly held by his uncle in Fairfield, Connecticut and Westchester, New York.3
He married Rachel Pinckney, daughter of Philip Pinckney, in 1684 at Westchester, New York, USA.4,3 He became the first judge of the Court of Common Pleas in Westchester.3
He was a lieutenant colonel in the militia.3

Sir John Pell sold several thousand acres to Jacob Leisler. The land was settled by Huguenots from La Rochelle, France, and later became what is now New Rochelle.3
