He sold his land in Hyde County in 1744. He moved to Craven County, North Carolina, where he entered a 300 acre grant on the north side of the Neuse River. William sold this land in 1769 and moved to Kershaw District, South Carolina, where he received a grant of 200 acres on 30 Oct 1772. His will was probated on 13 Jan 1783 (1). According to his will all his children were: Prudence, John, Elizabeth, Frances, Michael, Sabrah, and George.

Obed Mixon died in 1832 in Amite County, Mississippi. The administrator of his estate was Laviso Mixon (3). The estate was considered in probate court in 1852 (3).
